Free Childcare funding will also come into place for working families:

From April 2024 - 15 hours free for working families with a 2 - 3 Year old Child.

From Sept 2024 - 15 hours free for working families with a 9 - 23 month old Child.

From Sept 2025 - 30 hours free for working families with a child from 9 months old up to Primary School age.

ABOUT US
Harlequin Nursery & Pre-School (established 1992), is located overlooking the sea near Peasholm Park in Scarborough, North Yorkshire, UK.
Harlequin Nursery & Pre-School is for children from 3 months to 5 years. We are open for 50 weeks of the year, from Monday to Friday 08:00 to 17:45, except for Bank Holidays and 2 weeks for Christmas.

Harlequin Nursery & Pre-School provides a stimulating and happy environment with high quality care and education. As the children grow they mix and play together supporting the development of their physical and social skills. Using everyday opportunities and varied play experiences we encourage each child to develop at an individual pace to reach their own potential.

Harlequin Nursery & Pre-School teach Children using our STEM program, where the children learn about Science, Technology, Engineering and Maths, which allows the children to explore different things, observe how they are made or move and then ask questions, to enhance key skills such as reasoning, predicting, hypothesising and problem-solving.

Harlequin Nursery & Pre-School is a bright and spacious house with 3 separate nursery rooms and 3 outdoor learning environments, each accommodating different age groups. Each room and outdoor area is equipped with a full range of suitable learning materials and experiences. Our staff are qualified, experienced and friendly. Each child’s progress is carefully monitored and individual achievements recorded.

The proprietors are Nadine and Garry Smith.
Nadine and Leanne (Manager) both have over 20+ years’ experience working in Children’s day-nurseries and together they lead the day-to-day management of the Nursery. Garry has 30+ Years in Business Management and oversees the financial governance of the Nursery.
THE CHILDREN
The children will have daily access to our outdoor learning environments. We provide suitable out-door protective clothing such as sun hats, wellies and rain coats. Outdoor play is planned and organised to provide a variety of activities using carefully chosen apparatus and wheeled toys in a safe environment. The nursery is well situated to enable the children to visit the beach and Peasholm Park.

Before starting, we work together with you to plan join visits for yourself and your child. This helps your child to become familiar with the nursery environment and you to develop a relationship with the staff.

OUR STAFF
Our Manager Leanne has been working at Harlequin Nursery & Pre-School since 2000.
All staff hold relevant childcare qualifications and attend regular training sessions to further develop their skills and knowledge.
​
We were judged to be a GOOD Early Years Provider by OFSTED. The inspection was on 8th October 2019. The Report is located on the OFSTED website at https://files.ofsted.gov.uk/v1/file/50120277

As parents ourselves, we believe that your child’s happiness is essential. If you have any concerns regarding your child’s needs during his/her stay with us, we are available to speak to you at any time.
